I will be participating in the 24th Annual Gerry McCarthy Easter Egg Hunt tomorrow morning. It is in honor of my grandfather who spent most of his life ensuring that the youth of Allston/Brighton had things to do, baseball teams to play on etc. Overall, a great contributor to the community while also raising 10 of his own children. He used to run an egg hunt on the Mt. St Joseph's school grounds in the 60s. In 1984, 2 years after his death, the community revitalized the hunt in his honor. I wish I had known him longer than the 5 short years I did. I know he is watching down on me and is proud of who I have become and probably even prouder that I work in Athletics!! Love you Popo.
